Shelter is a great example of dedication by their volunteers A Schenectady (NY) Daily Gazette Online Letter to the Editor June 10, 2009
June 6 was the Animal Protective Foundation of Scotia annual garage sale. Volunteers have worked for weeks getting everything ready for the sale. Everyone worked together sorting and pricing and cleaning the donations brought in from people all over the area. These donations help defray the cost of caring for the many homeless and neglected animals that are brought into the shelter each day. The average cost to care and shelter an animal waiting for adoption is over $200. It was heart-warming to see how successful this event was because everyone pulled together. The volunteers were on the job at 6 a.m. getting things set up for the 8 a.m. sale. They worked straight through the day until the job was done. When a dedicated group of people work together, there is very little that can’t be accomplished. The Animal Protective Foundation of Scotia is a shining example of dedicated staff and volunteers working and caring for the animals that need their help and compassion. Volunteering there is the highlight of my day. We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful facility in our county. Marty Shanty Charlton
