Today, I sent the following email message to info@villageofscotia.org:

Do you have a webpage that provides information about how to file FOIL requests with the village?

The village has this pdf form for requesting public information. The form asks for information to which the village is not entitled under FOIL. It needs to be updated.

If not, it would be most helpful for the village to provide the following information on its website:

"contact information for the persons from whom records of the [village] may be obtained, the times and places such records are available for inspection and copying, and information on how to request records in person, by mail, and, if the [village] accepts requests for records electronically, by e-mail," along with a link to the website of the committee on open government.

I note that the law requires the village to accept email FOIL requests provided it has reasonable means to do so, which seems to be the case.

Thanks.
