Jerry's rough draft of a mission statement for the Junior High School.  A mission statement is currently being drafted (December 1999) and parents and the community are invited to submit their recommendations to Mrs. Painter, an art teacher at the Junior High School.  Call 382-1263.

Scotia-Glenville Jr. High School

Our mission is to:

infuse an insatiable passion for academic excellence among students, faculty, administration, parents, and community;

provide students with the resources, opportunities and environments that promote the efficient, effective and enjoyable development of knowledge, skills, habits, introspection, expression and refinement, as deemed to be in the best interest of each student, according to need, interest and ability, by the collective wisdom and collaborative decisions of parents, the community and educators;

promote virtue, integrity, creativity, respect, self-worth, ethical conduct, dependability, trustworthiness, courage, vigor and stamina;

instill an appreciation for freedom, in all its manifestations, liberty, justice, equality, due process, and democratic constitutional government, together with the responsibility and duty to participate in services, activities and processes necessary or useful for the preservation or improvement of government, society, community, family, and individuals;

nurture a love and synthesis of every subject and discipline, not only for material benefits, but also for the intrinsic value of cultivating and possessing a liberal education;

embrace the full range of human emotions and beliefs, guiding them to expressions creating fuller, more meaningful, and better lives;

welcome, involve and support parents and the community in all aspects of school life, and deliver prompt and full reviews of all issues and concerns raised, endeavoring to accommodate every reasonable suggestion consistent with the mission, tradition and purpose of education provided of, by, and for the public;

recognize and reward excellence in all its forms.
